What do these have in common? – They were all made using just one shot.So what’s impressive about one shot? It’s dynamic, occasionally spectacular, even iconic, but above all, represents a great challenge for filmmakers.It’s for these reasons and many more that we’ve decided to launch the One Shot Movie Competition from April 2012.

But… who are we?

    A film and television editor by trade, Daniel has always had a passion for filmmaking and cinema. As an independent writer and producer, Daniel has been involved in the production of numerous short films including the award winning Collar and The Ascension Agency. He has also produced commercials for Virgin Media, Dove, the paperback releases of Benjamin Percy’s Red Moon, Mark Billingham’s Buried, Jeffery Deaver’s Roadside Crosses and John Grisham’s The Litigators. A foray into children’s television with ‘Milkshake Monkey’ for Ch5 led to a BAFTA nomination in 2014 for best children’s short form.

    Keir Menzies 

    Keir’s a creative producer/director with a background in comedy. Early in his career, he co-produced New Zealand sketch comedy show Pulp Sport (Best NZ Comedy two years running – 2006 & 2007) which he also wrote and acted for. Since moving permanently to the UK, he’s worked in creative roles for many companies, such as ITV, Disney, Discovery.. plus various small agencies. He also directs corporate work and when he has time, makes comedy videos. There is another guy called Keir Menzies in the world and Keir hopes one day to meet him.

    Daniel Palmer 

    Daniel is an award winning screenwriter and independent filmmaker with a passion for strong stories and great ideas. As a writer, Daniel has had a hand in everything from short films to features, commercials to corporates. His most recent short film, Replica, received a Special Commendation from the Royal Television Society. Daniel compliments his writing by working as a television editor and independent filmmaker producing everything from television shows to music videos. He is currently working on a piece of long form fiction.
